ALLERSEELEN
Alle Lust Will Ewigkeit/Traumlied
1998
AOR 702
Allerseelen's blue vinyl 7' (limited to
500) is dedicated to the Leni Riefenstahl, the innovative German film-maker
whose achievements were overshaddowed by her Nazi associations. Both sides
have an obscure mystical quality. 'Alle Lust Will Ewigkeit' features an
insistent brass beat, a dragging industrial effect and female vocals,
whilst the other side has whispered male vocals for night-owls. Both sides
are considerably quieter and more relaxed than Allerseelen's previous
productions. Allerseelen is not, of course, the only group in the gothic-industrial
scene to play with Nazi or Fascist icons, imagery or references. In Simulacra
And Simulation, Jean Baudrillard explains the fascination with this
period as an attempt to connect with the last politically referential
era. Far from representing a resurgence of Fascism, the phenomenon is
only made possible by the "leukemia of history and of politics"
that has followed it.
